I am a postdoc at the Institute for Theoretical Computer Science at the Graz University of Technology. After I finished my MSc in theoretical physics I studied computational neuroscience with a focus on information processing in neocortical microcircuits. In my research I apply methods from machine learning and dynamical systems theory to the analysis of learning and computation in the cerebral cortex of anesthetized cats and awake monkeys (electrophysiology) in collaboration with the MPI Tübingen and the MPI Frankfurt. Additionally I carry out large-scale computer simulations of detailed models of networks of neurons in the cortex.
